Most Popular Sizes for Sliding Doors
Height is usually a standard 210cm - but width is often an issue for many. Which interiors does each size fit in, and how can you make the most of their unique qualities?
Standard - 90 x 210
This is due to the peculiarities of modern architecture - passages between rooms are usually about 10 meters. 80 cm, so installing a 90 x 210 door is an ideal solution.
They fit anywhere - bedroom, office, hallway. Thanks to the personalization options, you can easily choose the style according to your needs. Maybe glass to let light into the kitchen? Or maybe it's all wood, creating a cozy vibe from the entrance.
Tips From WEKIS:
If you like unusual room arrangements, remember that single doors are not the only option - double doors 45 x 210 fit the same openings as 90 x 210, while they diversify the combination a bit. They will also be perfect when there is no room to open a 90cm door leaf on the side of the opening.
Think of them, for example, when you want to open up your living room, but you don't have a spacious entrance. Symmetrical sliding doors will add character to the interior.
Medium - 120 x 210
We often produce slightly larger doors for our customers, measuring 120 x 210 cm. What is the maximum width of the opening in which they can be installed? We recommend that door openings not exceed 110cm for best results.
For this size, of course a double leaf option is available, ie double the 60 cm. This option works best in a living room, dining room, or other larger room.
Other - Non-standard Size
We know that every interior has its own rules, so not taking orders for custom doors is totally out of our way!
We are happy to manufacture sliding doors of various non-standard widths for you. Where does this need come from? What projects have we worked on so far?
Narrow - We sometimes produce doors that are only 70cm wide and are most commonly used by customers with non-standard access. For example? Ideal for utility rooms, older interiors, tenements, or even as a cover for certain appliance elements you want to hide, such as an exposed stove;
Wide - Large double doors look great in spacious interior spaces, such as an extra spacious living or dining room, which is why we recommend a total width of 220cm (110cm x 2). Suitable for widths up to 200-210 cm opening.
The great advantage of double doors is the ability to close half or all of the door opening, which gives you the flexibility to decide how open the interior is at a given moment.

How to Choose the Right Sliding Door Size?
Since every interior is different, know some basic rules for choosing the right door size for your apartment or house.
Choose the Height of the Sliding Door
Height is the less complicated dimension - since the door mounts to the wall, not in the opening, you have several options, and you're really limited by one rule: For doors with tracks, the distance between the door and the ceiling The distance must be 15-22 cm. Also, be sure to check that you have room for the full length of the rails!
Choose the Width of the Sliding Door
The issue of sliding door width is a bit more complicated. The main thing is to choose a door with a wider opening than you plan to install it in.
Standard single-leaf doors should be at least 6cm wider than the opening (preferably 10cm wider). Margins can be larger (e.g. 20 cm) but not smaller (e.g. 5 cm).
Why Do Doors Need to Be Wider Than the Opening?
1. The sliding door is installed on the track. The distance from the wall - depending on the model - can range from 1.8 to 2.8 cm, so the width of the door should be chosen so that there are no gaps between the rooms when viewed from one angle.
2. Larger doors mean more noise - for example, if you want to separate the children's room from the living room and silence it at the same time, choose a slightly wider door.
3. It is also worth mentioning the aesthetic value - a door made of pine wood in a spacious interior will add an extraordinary character.
Example of Choosing the Width of the Door
Let's take a look at the most popular door openings and door widths to help you understand how door selection works. Remember - the smallest excess you need to consider is 6cm.
This means that if the opening width is x cm, the door width y will be equal to or greater than x + min. 6 cm. So: y ≥ x + min. 6. Luckily, it's pretty simple math!
What is the Difference Between a Sliding Door and a Hinged Door?
If you're interested in interior design, or if you've done initial research on the subject of doors, you probably know how hinged doors are sized based on the opening they're installed in, right? What does a sliding door look like?
Let's take a look at the 80cm door opening. Standard case.
For swing doors the width will be less than the opening width due to the difference due to the need to install the frame i.e. 70cm.
For sliding doors, the width will be at least 6 cm greater than the opening width, which is 90 cm.
Conclusion
Finally, I would like to leave you some tips on the size of sliding doors, which are worth keeping in one place to help you make the right choice.
1. It is better to choose a wide sliding door than a narrow one.
2. Remember that the width of the track will be 2 times the width of the door - it has to fit the wall.
3. The formula for calculating the width of the sliding door is: y≥x + min. 6 cm.
4. The height of the sliding door can be arbitrary, as long as there is approx. 15-22 cm above the door to the ceiling.
5. You can order custom sized sliding doors - if you don't see your model listed in the quote, simply send a request for quote.
